Casino Bill Would Help Home - 2004-02-12
A local lawmaker wants a piece of the state's profits
from casino slot machines to pay for services at the Rocky Hill Veterans Home and Hospital. State Rep. Tony Guerrera, D-Rocky Hill, has proposed a bill that would annually withdraw $500,000 from the Mashantucket Pequot and Mohegan grant fund to pay for expanded rehabilitation programs and job training services at the facility.

"I can't see why anybody wouldn't want to support this. Our veterans need better programs, especially for the men and women fighting right now for our freedom who will come home," Guerrera said..

Humane Society planning bus trip - 2004-02-12
The Kewanee Chapter of the Henry County Humane Society is funding a bus trip to Jumer's Rock Island Casino on Sunday, March 14, for those suffering from "cabin fever" and looking for some excitement in the middle of winter.

The bus will start boarding passangers at the Pioneer Club at 11:30 a.m. and leave at noon, sharp.

The fee per person is $15, which includes buffet.

"Fun and games" and refreshments will be provided on the bus.
