Ponting gets Border medal - 2004-02-13
Australian cricket captain Ricky Ponting was awarded the prestigious Allan Border medal at a elegant black-tie event at Melbourne’s Crown Casino last night.

Former winners of the award, which honours the Australian cricketer of the year for performances during the preceding 12 months, include Glenn McGrath, Steve Waugh, Matthew Hayden and Adam Gilchrist.

Ponting was also chosen Test Player of the Year for the second successive year, following his double-centuries in Adelaide and Melbourne against India.

Board suggests disbarment for Stephen Edwards - 2004-02-13
The son of former Gov. Edwin Edwards should be permanently prohibited from practicing law for his conviction, along with his father, of extorting applicants for riverboat casino licenses, the Louisiana Supreme Court has been advised.

The recommendation by the Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board against Stephen Edwards comes 10 months after the ex-governor permanently resigned from practicing law.
