Gambling Bill Introduced - 2004-02-13
Iowa legislators have “upped the ante” on gambling laws. Thursday, lawmakers, in Des Moines, revealed a bill requesting up to five new casino licenses.

The bill also removes cruising requirements for riverboat casinos-- like the “Argosy Casino Sioux City”-- and allows table games at racetracks.

State representative Marcella Frevert, of Emmetsburg, says many people in her area are open to gaming.

Horseshoe Reimbursement Agreement - 2004-02-13
The Binion's family casino, The Horseshoe, closed down last month; putting close to a thousand employees out of work. The casino is offering to reimburse some of those former employees for "out of pocket" medical expenses. But the way the agreement reads, the employees also surrender
some of their rights.

The letter has been sent to former, non-union Binion employees urging them to fill out reimbursement paperwork "immediately", by "February 20th", that it's "very important" to file soon.
