MGM Mirage Sells Aussie Hotel-Casino - 2004-02-13
MGM Mirage has consented to sell its Australian hotel-casino for roughly $150 million to the SKYCITY Entertainment Group, the Las Vegas-based gambling company announced late Tuesday.

The sale of the MGM Grand Darwin is supposed to be completed late this summer.

The resort is on 18 acres of beach-front property in the port city of Darwin, in northern Australia. It has 450 slot machines and 26 gambling tables.

Off-track casinos possible - 2004-02-13
Horse industry officials have agreed to consider a top House Democrat's proposal to allow for voters decide if Kentucky should permit casino-style gambling at businesses other than racetracks.

Officials from six racetracks and two industry groups met Wednesday afternoon with Rep. Larry Clark to deliberate a plan to expand gambling in Kentucky.

The Louisville lawmaker, who as speaker pro tem is the House's second-ranking Democrat, called the session "one of the most positive meetings" he'd had with the racing officials.
