Schaghticoke Decision: Backlash Is Beginning - 2004-02-13
Area residents will get an opportunity tonight to learn about efforts to reverse the recent federal Bureau of Indian Affairs' decision to officially recognize the Schaghticoke Tribal Nation. A "town meeting" is set for 7:30 p.m. in the Kent Town Hall.
U.S. Rep. Nancy Johnson is expected to attend the meeting, sponsored by the Connecticut Alliance Against Casino Expansion. Presentations are to be made by Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, Congressman Christopher Shays, a Republican from Fairfield County, and CAACE president Jeff Benedict, as well as by municipal officials and state legislators.
