Castillo Ready to Take Another Swing - 2004-02-13
From October through January Jose Luis Castillo will frequently take batting practice with the Mexicali
Eagles of the Mexican winter baseball league. After taking his swings he gets the chance to stay on the team's bench in full uniform to take in the action.

Tonight he will put on his own work uniform to take on Derrick Parks in the featured bout televised on Telefutura from the Edgewater Casino in Laughlin, Nevada. Should he get past Parks he is then scheduled to step up to the plate against Juan Lazcano late this spring to take another swing at the WBC lightweight title that will be vacant when Floyd Mayweather Jr., moves up in weight.

Schaghticoke Decision: Backlash Is Beginning - 2004-02-13
Area residents will get an opportunity tonight to learn about efforts to reverse the recent federal Bureau of Indian Affairs' decision to officially recognize the Schaghticoke Tribal Nation. A "town meeting" is set for 7:30 p.m. in the Kent Town Hall.

U.S. Rep. Nancy Johnson is expected to attend the meeting, sponsored by the Connecticut Alliance Against Casino Expansion. Presentations are to be made by Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, Congressman Christopher Shays, a Republican from Fairfield County, and CAACE president Jeff Benedict, as well as by municipal officials and state legislators.
