Mayor Rebuts Gurnee Slam Against Casino License Bid - 2004-02-18 The war of words between the city and Gurnee over the planned Lakehurst-area casino escalated February 17, when Mayor Richard Hyde composed a rebuttal to Gurnee counterpart Don Rudny's January letter asking the Illinois Gaming Board to deny Waukegan's gaming bid.
"I realize not everyone is going to support our effort in this matter, and it is not my intention to respond to every challenge or criticism we might receive," Hyde wrote.
