Survey shows casino wages not minimum - 2004-02-19 You can earn about nine dollars an hour flipping burgers at a casino hotel resort, according to federal labor statistics.
Contrary to the contentions of some critics of the proposed Indian casino, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that many of the 136 job opportunities it cites in casinos around the country pay well above California's minimum of $6.75 an hour.

High roller folds hand in local casino - 2004-02-19 Las Vegas casino magnate Steve Wynn has withdrawn his participation from a proposed Des Plaines casino, just days before the Illinois Gaming Board is expected to name three finalists from among seven bidders for the state's 10th casino license.
Mr. Wynn's departure from Wynn Midwest LLC, leaves Chicago developer Neil Bluhm's company, Midwest Gaming and Entertainment LLC, as the majority shareholder in the planned casino venture. A statement released by Midwest Gaming late Thursday said Mr. Wynn's ongoing casino projects in Las Vegas and Macau, China, kept him from fully committing to a Chicago-area project.
