Casino proposals range from Caribbean theme to water park - 2004-02-20 Seven companies wanting to purchase the state's 10th casino license have submitted proposals that range from constructing a Caribbean-themed casino
in Rosemont to a casino in Country Club Hills that would include a spa, bowling alley and water park, the Illinois Gaming Board said Thursday.
The board also said casino developer Steve Wynn and Wynn Resorts Limited withdrew on Feb. 17 from the bid it submitted with partner Midwest Gaming and Entertainment LLC to develop a casino in Des Plaines, the board said. Casino Makes Offer To Lawmakers - 2004-02-20 The gambling debate persisted at the Statehouse in closed-door meetings.
Last week, the Iowa Supreme Court directed the state to pay land-based casinos more than $100 million in back taxes. The case affects Prairie Meadows Racetrack Casino in Altoona, Dubuque Greyhound Park and Casino, and Bluffs Run Casino and Greyhound Park in Council Bluffs.
