Dubuque Park And Casino Expansion Plans - 2004-02-20
The Dubuque Greyhound Park and Casino already has plans to double its racetrack's size and place 400 additional slot machines and as state legislators talk about allowing table games at racetrack casinos, the Dubuque Park is planning to expand even more.

The expansion will bring in more money, but some are concerned about where that money ends up. A $15.6 million expansion plan has already been approved for the greyhound park. The casino says it will bring in about $18 million in revenue each year which will help the state.

Argosy Gives Go-Ahead For $105M Casino Expansion - 2004-02-20
Construction crews are moving Missouri River bottom land outside the Argosy Riverside Casino, which now has the corporate approval to commence
its $105 million expansion.

The plan, approved earlier this year by Illinois-based Argosy Gaming Co. and the Missouri Gaming Commission, was put on hold in mid January when Missouri Gov. Bob Holden proposed steep increases in casino taxes to plug holes in the state budget.

"It didn't make sense for us to proceed if we were going to be hit with an onerous tax increase," said Virginia McDowell, an Argosy vice president.
