Casino foes gaining steam - 2004-02-21 Concerned Citizens Against the Casino is still falling behind its pro-casino counterpart in raising campaign funds, but the movement is picking up speed, according to the latest campaign statements.
The anti-casino group has raised about $12,300 since Jan. 17, the largest donor being the Hesperia Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at nearly $5,000.

Family-Pac Opposes State-Owned Casino - 2004-02-21 A group against the development of gambling in Illinois says a proposal for the state to own a casino is dangerous.
The director of Family-Pac, Paul Caprio, says increased competition and high taxes have made casino operations in Illinois a risky business, and bidders for a 10th license want the state to underwrite some of the cost.
Caprio says tolerance of gambling is one thing, owning a casino is an endorsement that Family-Pac strongly opposes and will resist in the General Assembly. Read the full story at WBBM |
