Even more casinos? Bet on it - 2004-02-22
A supposedly innocent remark 12 days ago by Economic Development Minister Joe Cordiano about the possibility of more casinos in Ontario has thrown communities throughout the province into a tizzy.

"I'm conducting an assessment to make sure that we understand where the (gambling) industry should go, how much growth we've had (and) should we have future growth," said Cordiano.

Those communities without casinos — notably Barrie, Wasaga Beach, North Bay and even Hamilton — immediately stuck their hands in the air and cried, "Me!"

Hundred of people robotically dropped coins into slot machines at Casino Arizona, unaware of actors Burt Reynolds, Charles Durning and Robert Loggia, who were filming the movie Forget About It in the Pima Room of the casino Saturday.

"It's Grumpy Old Men meets Analyze This," Associate Producer Manuel Flores explained.
