The prospect of a new ownership and expansion at Lincoln Park and the proposal to construct a West Warwick casino have expressed concerns about the state's oversight of gambling. One concern is how the state regulates people employed in this multimillion dollar industry, which could grow much larger.

State regulators have only recently computerized the list of people licensed to work at Lincoln Park -- the video-lottery terminal facility, dog track and critical source of state revenue -- whose former executive was indicted on federal bribery charges in September.

Windsor Man Wins Over $4 Mln On Slot Machine - 2004-02-28
Casino Windsor officials said a man won $4.5 million on a MegaBucks slot machine. Casino spokeswoman Holly Ward said that the high jackpot had been attracting a lot of attention from gamblers. Ward said the man left a blackjack table to play the $1 slot machine because of the buzz on the floor.

"(The man) just thought he would try it and it went off," said Ward. "There was lots of screaming and lights and bells and it was very exciting."
