St. Bernard's: Casino Night will go on -- somewhere, some time - 2004-02-03
St. Bernard's Catholic School says the show will go on.

The school stated last week that they had pushed back their annual Casino Night due to the uncertainty surrounding the Eureka Inn.

The annual fund-raising event that gave 100 percent of the proceeds for the benefit of the students, was to have been held Saturday.

"We are actively searching for another facility large enough to accommodate the many people who attend this event," said Debi Faber-Bush, St. Bernard's director of development.

Super Bowl spurs increase in betting - 2004-02-03
Sports books were Super Bowl winners, too.

A favorable point spread given to the Carolina Panthers and a belief that the New England Patriots would win the NFL title game prompted a considerable increase in Super Bowl betting.

Bob Scucci, sports book director for the Stardust hotel-casino, says his property did almost 15 percent more business than last year.

John Avello, director of Race and Sports Book operations at Bally's and Paris Las Vegas, says his casinos barely had enough room to accommodate all the bettors.
