Gaming debate begins - 2004-02-03
Iowans who hope to revive sagging economies in their hometowns by opening a new casino squared off with gambling opponents at a public hearing Monday night at the Statehouse.
More than 50 people, including representatives of the state’s gambling industry and religious groups as well as former gambling addicts, came to voice their opinions as lawmakers prepare to debate changes in the state’s gambling laws.
