Casino worker's bomb hoax rap - 2004-02-03
A former casino employee who fell off a ladder and broke his arm at work will face trial in Brisbane for supposedly threatening to drive a bomb-laden car into the building.

Irfan Kaya faced a committal hearing in Brisbane's Magistrates Court today, cradling his broken left arm which still bears the scars of his six metre fall more than two years ago.

He faces one charge of making a false statement with the intention of inducing a belief that he had a bomb.

Opelousas officials press for share of casino cash - 2004-02-03
Opelousas wants a much larger share of the expected revenue from the new Evangeline Downs Racetrack and Casino.

Presently the lion's share of the revenue, 58 percent of 4 percent of the racino's profits, is going to the Parish Council.

"They were the governing authority at that time. Now we are the governing authority," said Mayor Anna Simmons, pointing out that the racino has been annexed into the city.
