Track could assist state with budget challenges - 2004-02-04
The State of Alabama will be close to three-quarters-of-a-billion short in its 2004-2005 budget if something severe isn't done. The governor's accountability measures won't come near to making up that total, even if they were to pass the legislative process which started this week.
Those operations bring in a calculated $100 million-per-year with no taxes paid to the state. The newest, located alongside the RiverRun Golf Course here, has over 500 bingo, video poker and pull tab" slot machines.
