Have Your Cake And Eat It Too! - 2004-02-06
You can have your cake and eat it too. That's what pastry chefs at the Mohegan Sun casino want to prove.

They are building what they hope will be the world's biggest wedding cake. The seven-tier cake weighs more than 14,000 pounds and measures about 17-feet tall, and is making its debut at the American Indian casino in Uncasville on Sunday.

"It just keeps going up," executive pastry chef Lynn Mansel said. "I still can't believe we did it."

Strong opinions fill casino hearing - 2004-02-06
The seven-company wrestling match for the state's 10th casino license has officially been in progress for weeks, but it revved into high gear Thursday with members of the public weighing in on prospective bidders.

Coming out swinging at a hearing before the Illinois Gaming Board was Rosemont, via the West Central Municipal Conference.

Member Donald Storino sought to counter Waukegan's argument that it most deserves the license because of Waukegan's high unemployment rate.
