Blagojevich says he won't rule out added gambling - 2004-02-06
Gov. Rod Blagojevich danced around the issue of gambling expansion Thursday, stating he is skeptical but still willing to consider it in difficult economic times.
The heads of the legislature's two gambling committees have an expansion proposal that might generate as much as $2 billion for the state's cash-strapped coffers.
The plan, a repeat of one Blagojevich rejected last year, would increase the number of slot machines at riverboat casinos and put them at racetracks, authorize two more casinos in the Chicago area and legalize video poker.
