Investor bets on gaming in Richmond - 2004-02-07
Following failed attempts to open an Indian casino in Richmond, an investment group is now placing its
bets on neighboring property under county control.
Florida-based NSV Development has purchased land along Richmond Parkway in the hopes of turning it over to an American Indian tribe to build a casino, a county official said.
It's the same group that teamed up with the Scotts Valley Band of Pomo Indians two years ago to pitch a Las Vegas-style casino in Richmond. Now NSV has turned its attention to North Richmond, a mostly low-income neighborhood in an unincorporated area.
