MGM Mirage, Macau gaming firm in JV talks--paper - 2004-02-07
U.S. casino operator MGM Mirage Inc (nyse: MGG - news - people) is in negotiations with Macau's gaming mogul Stanley Ho develop a new casino in the city, known for its lucrative gambling industry, a Hong Kong newspaper said on Sunday, citing sources close to the deal.

Company officials from MGM and Ho's casino group, Sociedade de Jogos de Macau (SJM), were not immediately available for comment but the South China Morning Post quoted an SJM executive as saying an announcement about the MGM-SJM joint venture "would be made in due course".

Investor bets on gaming in Richmond - 2004-02-07
Following failed attempts to open an Indian casino in Richmond, an investment group is now placing its
bets on neighboring property under county control.

Florida-based NSV Development has purchased land along Richmond Parkway in the hopes of turning it over to an American Indian tribe to build a casino, a county official said.

It's the same group that teamed up with the Scotts Valley Band of Pomo Indians two years ago to pitch a Las Vegas-style casino in Richmond. Now NSV has turned its attention to North Richmond, a mostly low-income neighborhood in an unincorporated area.
