Lakeshore Community Ready For New Beach - 2004-02-07
It's simply a matter of time before Hancock County residents see new sandy beaches. A major beach replenishment project is now in progress.

Work crews are in the process of setting up the equipment that will pump in new sand near the old Bayou Caddy casino site in the Lakeshore community. 250,000 yards of sand will be pumped to the area from a barrow pit a thousand feet off shore.

County leaders say the sand will give the seawall and beach road extra protection from storm damage, but casino developers and residents say the recreation aspect is what has them excited.

The only real stakes ride on the effluent question - 2004-02-07
There is only one real matter that has not been fully attended to for the proposed casino in Plymouth. And that is “effluent disposal.” All other emotional reasoning, not-in-my-back-yard and alarmist issues, such as increased traffic and crime are purely speculative and can be mitigated with proper local cooperation with the Tribal government and IKON.

The California Department of Water Resources, the Environmental Protection Agency and the numerous other agencies that can and do “kill” private sectors’ projects via unreasonable restriction and conjecture simply do not apply to the sovereign Indian Nation. So there!
