Flint will ask voters to compete for casino - 2004-02-07
Gaming proponents in this suburban Detroit community may be in for a fight with another city over the location of a planned Indian casino.

Romulus voters approved a plan in December that would allow a casino operated by the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians in their city.

But the Flint City Council voted last week to ask voters to approve a similar measure when they go to the polls in the city's Aug. 3 primary.

Bids Announced For Dormant Illinois Casino License - 2004-02-07
Bid amounts were announced for an available Illinois casino license, with Penn National Gaming giving the highest offer.

The bids were released today by the Illinois Gaming Board.

Penn National bid $506 million for the license presently held by bankrupt Emerald Casino. Harrah's Entertainment had the next highest bid at $375 million, followed by Wynn Midwest in partnership with Wynn Resorts and Midwest Gaming and Entertainment, at $360 million.
