Investor Bets On Gaming In Richmond - 2004-02-09
Following failed attempts to open an Indian casino in
Richmond, an investment group is now placing its bets on nearby property under county control. Florida-based NSV Development has bought land along Richmond Parkway in the hopes of turning it over to an American Indian tribe to build a casino, a county official said.

It's the same group that worked together with the Scotts Valley Band of Pomo Indians two years ago to pitch a Las Vegas-style casino in Richmond. Now NSV has turned its attention to North Richmond, a mostly low-income neighborhood in an unincorporated area.

Foxwoods, Mohegan Sun Seek New Ideas For Advertising - 2004-02-09
Now that hordes of customers have experienced
“The Wonder of It All” at Foxwoods Resort Casino, and masses have accepted Mohegan Sun's invitation to “Come Play,” both of Connecticut's casino operators are seeking advertising agencies to take their brand images a step further.

The two casinos are reviewing ad agencies and expect to name the winning bidders by spring. Foxwoods is looking to replace Trahan, Burden & Charles, the Baltimore firm that currently handles the creative portion of the casino's advertising program. Mohegan Sun is reviewing seven firms, including current advertiser Cliff Freeman & Partners of New York, for creative services and media planning. Both casinos spend approximately $25 million a year on advertising.
