Developer approaches casino about sale - 2004-03-01
Owners of Jumer’s Casino Rock Island have been approached about selling the business and its highly
coveted state gaming license if a proposal for a $92
million relocation to Big Island falls through.

Such a move would be legally and politically complicated. The sale would need approval from the City of Rock Island and the Illinois Legislature, but it could generate tens of millions of dollars for owners of the riverboat casino.

“I don’t think that is what the casino people are thinking at all,’’ Rock Island City Administrator John Phillips said Monday about the sale speculation.

look at the state of Australian corporate governance."

Whilst we banged on for half an hour about the shallow directors' club gene pool, executive pay, proxy voting rorts and our wishlist of governance reforms, the most interesting information of the morning came from a speaker on the following panel, JP Morgan's Australasian director of investor services, Graeme Arnott.
