Gold Reef reports strong earnings - 2004-03-10 Gaming and resorts group Gold Reef Casino Resorts has revealed a 29.4 percent increase in headline profits per share for the year to end-December 2003, to 65.1 cents from 50.3 cents a year earlier.
The group declared a final dividend for the year of 27 cents, up 80 percent from its maiden dividend of 15 cents per share in 2002.
Gold Reef has interests such businesses as Gold Reef City in Johannesburg, the Apartheid Museum, Golden Horse Casino, Casino Mykonos and the Garden Route Casino (42.5 percent). Read the full story at iafrica.com
The location selected for the new casino is owned by a Moline company that has said it will only sell the land if it gets approval to move its sand-and-gravel operation to a nearby area where neighbors have lobbied against a pit for years because of flooding and environmental concerns.
On Monday, the Rock Island City Council gave its OK for the move by voting 5-0 to annex land near Interstate 280 and Illinois 92 and approving two special-use permits for the RiverStone Group's pit, processing plant and sales office. Read the full story at Las Vegas Sun
