Casino opponents file lawsuit against Governor Kulongoski - 2004-03-10
Opposers of a tribal casino planned for the coastal town of Florence have taken legal action against Governor Kulongoski in an effort to block its development.

The group People Against a Casino Town filed the lawsuit yesterday in Lane County Circuit Court in Eugene.

The group names both the governor and the Confederated Tribes of Coos, Lower Umpqua and Siuslaw Indians.

At least 1,000 people protest a bill to outlaw slot machines in Minnesota Rallying on the state Capitol steps Tuesday, more than 1,000 people protested a bill that would make slot machines illegal in Minnesota.

Among the protesters were more than 150 Northland casino workers and American Indian tribal members. American Indian and non-Indian casino workers later handed out hundreds of pink slips to lawmakers.
