Report claims gaming is leader for minority jobs - 2004-03-17
If the country is serious regarding supplying better prospects for women and other minorities, then society can get further ahead by merely getting behind the gaming trade.
The study, called "2003 Gaming Industry Diversity Snapshot," was commissioned by the American Gaming Association (AGA) and contrasts the gender and racial composition of casino workers with the national workforce as well as the workforce in both the amusement/recreation and hospitality trades and the total workforce in the same 11 states where commercial casinos run.

Southern Nevada's employment base in January was 834,100, representing a 4.6 percent rise over the same month of the year before.

This is a national trend and one of increasing questions for economists. Cranes along the strip bode well for future employment progress; however, it is worth metioning that hotel/casino employment rose by only 0.8 percent throughout the past 12 months.
