Blagojevich Announces Special Investigation Into Casino Bidding - 2004-03-17
Gov. Rod Blagojevich is increasing the stakes for the 10th casino license.

Blagojevich wants particular problems addressed with the gaming board through a special investigator, reported NBC5's Rob Elgas. The investigation comes from allegations that Rosemont's original deal with Emerald Casino had mob ties and that the winning bidder, Isle of Capri, had previous regulatory problems in other states.

Wednesday, Rosemont Mayor Donald Stephens commended the governor for the announcement. Stephens asked for a speedy investigation so the casino can begin providing revenue to the state.

President Casino sells Biloxi hotel - 2004-03-17
The President Casino has sold its Broadwater Tower Hotel for $6.5 million, casino officials revealed.

Ocean Beach Club at Biloxi LLC, Michael Mayer and Drake Leddy purchased the 179-room hotel on Tuesday. The President Casino signed a seven-month lease to run the Broadwater Tower, with options for extensions.

It will be business as usual for employees and guests at the hotel, said Joe Giardina, a spokesman for President Casino.
