Alarming challenges cloud the optimistic appearance of state finance - 2004-03-17
The Delaware Economic and Financial Advisory Council's March document on state revenues was optimistic, but barely. The growth that the council had foreseen in December has been curtailed.

The three slots gambling sites are thriving now, but if and when the Maryland and Pennsylvania legislatures authorize casino gambling too, out-of-state clientele and the handle at Delaware Park, Dover Downs and Harrington Raceway will diminish.

Vegas police capture accused man of highway shootings - 2004-03-17
The man sought in a deadly series of sniper shootings that terrorized Ohio drivers was caught at a motel Wednesday after a tipster spotted him at a Las Vegas casino reading a newspaper story regarding himself.

Authorities reported McCoy had been in Las Vegas for about a day, gambling at the Stardust hotel-casino and dwelling at the neighboring Budget Suites motel, just across from a strip club.
