Body found beside lake identified - 2004-03-03 A body that washed up on the shore of Lake Pontchartrain in Kenner a month ago was identified by investigators as that of a 77-year-old Harahan woman who shot herself in the head.
A passer-by found Jane Everett's body behind the Treasure Chest casino Feb. 22, said Capt. Steve Caraway, Kenner police spokesman. She committed suicide, he said. Notes recovered by Harahan and Kenner police from her house and from a brother in Florida indicate her health had been failing and implied she was going to kill herself, Caraway said.
