Mayor: Ontario Should Lift Casino Referendum Ban - 2004-03-04
The province should lift the moratorium on casino referendums so the issue can be settled locally by the community, Mayor Bill Brazeau said Tuesday.

Brazeau made the comment after Ted Abraham told council he's pitching a 'joint application' with all regional municipalities for a gaming facility at his Lookout Inn and Terrace Suite development.

Abraham said the province will likely make up its mind about locations for the latest round of charitable casinos within months, and that a united approach has a better chance of succeeding.
