Binion's Horseshoe Still in the Air - 2004-03-09
It was supposed to be a done deal by Tuesday morning, but the sale of Binion's Horseshoe is now being postponed. The prospective purchasers -- MTR Gaming and Harrah's -- are running into problems.

Re-opening Binion's Horseshoe is important to the economy of downtown Las Vegas. MTR Gaming and Harrah's planned to re-open the casino next month. But they don't own it yet because they've run into some obstacles. And former Horseshoe workers are left waiting.

Police standoff with armed, barricaded man - 2004-03-09
Payson police responded with their tactical unit to a suicidal man barricaded in his Ash Street apartment
with a high-powered gun, equipped with a scope, Monday.

Ernest Lewis, 62, initially phoned Cliff Castle Casino in Camp Verde, threatening suicide.

"The 911 call came in from security at the casino," Det. Sgt. Tom Tieman said.
