Committee chairman impedes gambling measure - 2004-04-01
A day after Iowa Senate officials and racetrack casino interests settled on a gaming tax structure, the chairman of a Senate committee declined on Wednesday to act on legislation solidifying that deal.

McKibben stated his committee may choose to move ahead with a measure that would assess a statewide property tax on casinos, but in the meantime wants to speak with other legislators about the possibility for modifying the tax rates in the House bill.
