Authorities Close In On Wyandotte County Casino - 2004-04-02
Equipped with a search warrant, local officials raided a casino in downtown Kansas City around 6 a.m. Friday morning.

The raid came after the National Indian Gaming Commission issued a letter last week, stating the casino could no longer legally function. The NIGC stated the property on which the casino stands does not meet the definition of tribal land for the purposes of gaming under the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act.

City, state leaders close KCK casino - 2004-04-02
Kansas officials issued warrants Friday to ban the Wyandotte 7th Street Casino from running at a site beside the Kansas City, Kan., City Hall, Attorney General Phill Kline's office reported.

The casino now is formally considered a crime scene, he explained.
Officials with the casino and the Wyandotte Nation in Wyandotte, Okla., couldn't be contacted for comment Friday.
