Bingo halls criticize ‘unfair’ advantage for casino operators - 2004-04-03
Planned legislation to standardize Britain’s gambling trade could lead to a major shake-up in the bingo sector, as operators struggle to rival against “unfair” advantages offered to casino operators.

“As the proposals are written at the moment, the casino industry will be allowed to provide a whole range of gaming activities including bingo and sports betting. However, bingo clubs will not be allowed to introduce new forms of gambling into our establishments."

Senate Democrats unveil budget agenda - 2004-04-03
Senate Democrats, in their budget proposal released Friday, say no to gambling and invading the 21st Century Minerals Fund, but yes to plugging loopholes and minimizing state government.

Senate Democrats didn’t use state gambling funds to balance the budget, but the House did. Republican leadership in both bodies claimed that they would support a state casino and add slot machines to the Canterbury Park racetrack in Shakopee.
