Every few weeks, Erin Pierson drives north from her home close to Blades to play the slots.
As neighboring Maryland struggles to determine whether to implement slots at several racetracks throughout the state, Delaware has calmly collected the profits of the gambling machines.
Since the arrival of slots at Delaware's three racetracks in Harrington, Dover and Wilmington in late 1995, the state has generated almost $1 billion, according to the Delaware Lottery, which takes care of the slots money.
