More gamblers playing the slots - 2004-04-05 If the odds are against you in most casino games, the chances of your losing money at a new table game are even greater.
And that could make some gamblers balk at stepping up to a table rather than a slot machine.
In Atlantic City, there were 1,165 table games and 16,183 slots in 11 casinos in 1984, according to the New Jersey Casino Control Commission. There are currently 1,383 table games in 12 casinos, but 41,986 slots. Read the full story at Norwich Bulletin |

Rumsey Band keeps venture thriving - 2004-04-05 So much to do, so little time -- or, for the Rumsey Band of Wintun Indians, however much time it takes. It cuts the ribbon today on its vastly developed Cache Creek Casino Resort, roughly 85 miles northeast of Oakland.
The Rumseys have proposed $3 million so far to contest a proposed ballot measure that either would force tribes to give a quarter of their slot machine revenues to the state, or would grant five racetracks and 11 non-Indian card rooms 30,000 slot machines, from which a third of the returns would go to the state.
